I'm beginning to understand the frustration.

I just tried to make an appointment to see a family physician. You would think being in the brotherhood would get me an easier pass in the door...................you would think that........................you would be wrong.

I called 4 physicians to see who was taking new patients (insured patients) finally found one whose office will send me paperwork to return and from there it will take 2 weeks to be seen. It's a good thing there isn't anything horribly wrong or I could be terminal by the time I get in.

Last night in the ER we had a 3 hour wait and it was one of the shortest in the city. There are multiple reasons for that wait but if insured patients are being put off weeks the uninsured, underinsured, and medicaid patients are doomed.

That is why I wait with my GP till my day off to call, b/c I know they have a block of appointments set aside, but you have to call first thing otherwise you do not get in. I had to go last week, for my eye, everyone is referring to it as my evil eye...another day another story...(am half greek so it's rather appropriate don't ya think), got there a minute late, they were short staffed, and ended up waiting over an hour...insane... must be going small fry is running round in his batman jammies...he needs to get his hiney in gear....the joys of parenthood... hope you are ok LM or LD is ok or the little one is ok. There are 8 fairly large hospitals and everyone was SRO yesterday. Dook- Nothing major on the health front. Just the bronchitis sore throat that is tearing through town but I've had it for a month and it's just time to get it looked at. Besides I need a physical and it's always a good idea to have a PCP. give small fry a kiss for me. [ Reply to Comment ]

Hey LM I can understand on both sides of the overcrowding argument. As a student and a staff member at one of the busiest University Hospital/Clinics in the Chicagoland area I can understand the frustrations. The main issue of not being able to get an appointment goes to how severe "they" think your problem is compared to the acuteness of other patients' issues. (acuteness?? I like that word) Don't really understand how the RN's can decide who's injury or issue is more important than another persons issue/injury. But that's neither here nor there. It can take up to 3 weeks to get into see one of our physicians due to his patient load and how long it takes for him to see his patients on a normal schedule. But to not be able to get you in to ANY physician for a couple of weeks is... not really normal, unless other physicians are on vacations blah blah blah. But you already know this lol... I know I know... but here's some interesting news. I have a torn Meniscus! Yaaaay LOL. shakes head I figured as much for some time but yesterday hyperextended my knee... yea... now I'm in tons of pain... Maybe just maybe I'll get an tOSU sweatsuit to wear for the first few days after they either repair or remove it. wink... lol Should be fun! ... A couple of day's ago I had a worker break his foot on a job. We take him to the E.R. in my town, about 20k population. When we get there the treatment part is handled great by the doctors and nurses. I call my workers comp ins. carrier and ask what I need to do. They tell me that in order to even submit a claim there has to be a drug and alcohol test done on the injured party. No test no pay, simple right?
